Upcoming movies with high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes:

•Sept. 11: Chained for Life, a beautiful actress struggles to connect with her disfigured co-star on the set of a European auteur’s English-language debut. Through pitch-black satire, Chained for Life examines the treatment of disability on screen and on set.

•Sept. 13: Neither Wolf nor Dog, a white author is summoned by a Lakota Elder who asks him to write a book about his perspective. After a blundering false start, he is all but kidnapped and sucked into a road trip through the heart of the contemporary Native American landscape.

•Sept. 13: Freaks, kept locked inside the house by her father, 7-year-old Chloe lives in fear and fascination of the outside world, where Abnormals create a constant threat – or so she believes. When a mysterious stranger offers her a glimpse of what’s really happening outside, Chloe soon finds that while the truth isn’t so simple, the danger is very real.

•Sept. 13: Monos, in a remote mountaintop setting somewhere in Latin America, a rebel group of teenage commandos bearing noms de guerre like Rambo, Smurf, Bigfoot, Wolf and Boom-Boom perform military training exercises while watching over a prisoner and a conscripted milk cow for a shadowy force known only as The Organization. After an ambush drives the squadron into the jungle, fracturing their intricate bond, the mission begins to collapse.

•Sept. 13: Depraved, the legend of Frankenstein gets a provocative modern update in the stylishly disturbing new film from indie horror master Larry Fessenden. Suffering from PTSD following his stint as an army medic, Henry now works feverishly in his Brooklyn laboratory to forget the death he witnessed overseas by creating life in the form of a man cobbled together from body parts.

•Sept. 13: The Weekend, stand-up comedian Zadie is still reeling from her last breakup three years ago, but is trying to stay friends with her ex-boyfriend Bradford. She invites him on a weekend trip to her judgmental mother Karen’s country B&B and he brings his new girlfriend Margo along with them. Their awkward love triangle gets complicated by the arrival of handsome and newly single guest Aubrey.

•Sept. 16: Midnight Traveler, when the Taliban puts a bounty on Afghan director Hassan Fazili’s head, he is forced to flee the country with his wife and two young daughters. Capturing the family’s uncertain journey firsthand, Fazili documents their harrowing trek across numerous borders revealing the danger and uncertainty facing refugees seeking asylum juxtaposed with the unbreakable love shared amongst the family on the run.
