Hello everyone, today I will be reviewing Lewiston Civic Theatre’s production of “Winter Wonderettes.” I will be discussing the plot of the musical, some technical
things I noticed, and my own personal thoughts on the show.
The plot: The plot is pretty straightforward, we, meaning the audience, are all attending a business Christmas party, a typical thing that almost everyone has experienced at least once in their lifetime.
The only thing that differs from the norm is the fact that the boss that usually is Santa, isn’t there, so the Wonderettes (a group of women that work at the business and sing at functions) are in charge and…. Let’s just say that chaos ensues.
Technical things I noticed: I loved the decorations and props. It definitely looked like a business Christmas party. I also noticed that the mics worked the whole time, so that was a pleasant upgrade in the production of the musical.
My personal thoughts: I loved it. The people that were playing the characters on Sunday night did such a wonderful job and you could see that they were having just as much fun playing their characters and messing around.
I also really enjoyed that they involved the crowd in some of their jokes and bits. All in all, with all the Christmas music, it put me right in the Christmas spirit and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my Sunday.
The play will continue at Normal Hill Campus, former LHS, from Dec. 17-18 at 7:30, and Dec. 19 at 2. Tickets are $19.00 for adults, $16.00 for Seniors or Veterans, Student (12 to College) $14.00, and Child (5-11) $11.00.
